"Tue" Fabulous

Hey, hey, hey…I’m dedicating this week’s edition to my third home…San Juan, Puerto Rico! I usually spend a week in PR each year, but in 2008, I never got around to it! So, needless to say, I’m very “homesick” and the subarctic Chicago weather isn’t helping either! Anywho, in honor of “la isla,” I’m staring at vacation pieces that I would take with me on my next trip (if my budget would allow)!   Quote [...]

Help Hungry Chicago Families

The Greater Chicago Food Depository is still accepting donations for its holiday food drive. You have until January 3rd to drop off non-perishable items at your local Dominick’s store. The economy has placed a greater strain on family resources and agencies like the GCFD are reporting an increase in need citywide. So, please do your part and pick up some extra food (if you can) and drop it in the bins at Dominick’s! -kb

Happy Monday!

Hey, everyone…Hope you had a great weekend! It was absolutely too doggone cold in Chicago to do ANYTHING! For the most part, I spent the weekend in bed and surfing the internet. I was able to find a few jobs to apply for, and research some topics for the blog/Examiner. Also, I got a chance to watch some episodes of “Real Chance of Love” for the first time! Woooowwwww…That’s all I can say about that [...]

All About The Kids: Da Internz Give Back

I must give a shoutout to Chicago’s very own producers extraordinaire, Da Internz, who were recognized for their recent work with a group of teenage ladies involved in America SCORES. America SCORES is a nationwide youth development program that combines soccer, poetry writing and service learning all to help promote literacy and discourage obesity among inner-city kids. The young ladies won a community-wide poetry slam and were rewarded with three days in the studio with Da Internz. [...]

Lush Cosmetics – Charity Pot

It’s no secret that the winter can bring about horribly dry skin. I feel like I’m applying lotion and a slew of other moisturizers CONSTANTLY. I guess it’s just one of those things that we can’t avoid (like political scandals in Chicago).  If you’re looking for a new moisturizer to add into your routine, I suggest that you check out LUSH Cosmetics’ Charity Pot. I sampled it a few days ago and my hands felt [...]

Tonight’s event is raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  You’ll be asked to make a donation at the door so DON’T be cheap especially since it will be donated to a great cause, and you get [...]

Celebrity Spotlight: Ludacris

Celebrities deserve some shine for all of the good works that they do. I’m dedicating the first celebrity spotlight to Chris “Ludacris” Bridges for three reasons… 1. He kicked off his “LudaCrismas in Toyland” initiative here in Chicago on Tuesday 2. He has been one of the most consistent philanthropic entertainers. Since 2001, the Ludacris Foundation has donated over $750,000 to nonprofit organizations. 3. He looks TOO sharp in the photo above (taken at a [...]
