The Greater Chicago Food Depository is still accepting donations for its holiday food drive. You have until January 3rd to drop off non-perishable items at your local Dominick’s store. The economy has placed a greater strain on family resources and agencies like the GCFD are reporting an increase in need citywide. I must give a shoutout to Chicago’s very own producers extraordinaire, Da Internz, who were recognized for their recent work with a group of teenage ladies involved in America SCORES. America SCORES is a nationwide youth development program that combines soccer, poetry writing and service learning all to help promote literacy and discourage obesity among inner-city kids.
