Housing Works' Great Finds

Yesterday, I posted about the SoHo Stroll and one of the participants was the Housing Works Thrift Store. Housing Works is the largest community-based AIDS service organization in the United States, as well as the nation’s largest minority-controlled AIDS service organization. Since they were founded in 1990, they’ve provided “lifesaving services, such as housing, medical and mental health care, meals, job training, drug treatment, HIV prevention education, and social support to more than 20,000 homeless and low-income New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS.”

In addition to their thrift stores, they also operate the The Works Catering and Housing Works Bookstore Cafe to help pay for the services of the programs and provide employment opportunities to program graduates! Housing Works operates 9 upscale thrift stores in NYC, so you’re sure to find something that peaks your interest (and gives back).

If you’re not in NYC, you can also shop some of their great finds online. Similar to eBay, you can either bid on the items or “buy them now.” There are way too many great finds on the website. I’ve pulled a few of my favorites below:
