“Single for Good” Has A Great Ring to It

I hate dating. If you ask me what about dating specifically grinds my gears, I will say everything. So, a few people were more than shocked when I agreed to participate in the Venus vs. Mars Speed Dating Party hosted by The BOSS Network this past Saturday. I participated in the event for three reasons: I was asked… I need to break out of my comfort zone… It seemed more about fun than actual love [...]

Who Knew Breathing Was So Beneficial?

Just wanted to update you all on my Choose You personal challenge. Last week, the Choose You bloggers decided to focus on the importance of stress reduction in our lives. I was all for it because this is definitely one of my top goals. Last week, I used my post to share one of my favorite breathing techniques from DrWeil.com. It’s called the 4-7-8 exercise and can be done ANYWHERE! The basic details are below: [...]

Shakira Launches T-Shirt Line with Mango and UNICEF

Shakira has shimmied her way onto my “Most Beautiful Celebs” list and now she’s designed her way into my heart with a line of charitable tees to benefit South Africa. The tees come in four designs and include graphics such an illustration of a lion’s face and the phrases “Waka Waka” and “This Time For Africa.” Those phrases are a nod to her single and World Cup anthem, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).” Proceeds [...]

Serve-A-Thon Launches My Summer of Service!

This past Saturday, I joined over 1000 Chicago volunteers to participate in the 17th Annual Chicago Cares Serve-a-Thon. Year after year, this event gathers teams of do-gooders for a day of beautifying schools across the city. Chicago is one of the most poorly funded school districts in the US, so things like painting are often seen as extras that can’t be afforded. I teamed up with my great friend, Brian, who put together “Team Sleet.” [...]

See? A Little Wine Does Do Some Good!

As I get older and older, I continue to gain a greater appreciation for wine. But, I’m still scared to venture too far out of my wine comfort zone, lest I relive a horrible night from Sophomore year of college. Any ILLINI familiar with Wine Night at Clybourne’s? Anyways, I digress. The Tasting Room (1415 W. Randolph) is giving me a great reason to expand my wine knowledge with its’ tasting sessions for charity, “Flights [...]

The Summer Skyline Series Is at It Again!

Last weekend, Red Bull kicked off its Summer Skyline Series at Chicago’s NV Penthouse Lounge. The series combines staples of a day party (colorful cocktails, great music) with the amazingness of Chicago’s rooftop scene. What makes the Skyline Series even better is that each event raises funds for a different charitable organization! The Red Pump Project was last week’s recipient  and we had a blast! The weather was beautiful and we camped out in a [...]
