Elevating My Style & Beauty Game

2016_Style_Goals

While browsing one of my favorite blogs, The Style and Beauty Doctor, I came across Danielle’s post listing out her 2016 style and beauty resolutions. Reading her list made me think in detail about what I wanted to accomplish this year in those two areas. Looking back at pictures from years ago, I noticed that my interest in my outward appearance took a dip as I took a step back from the social scene. During my pregnancy, I practically fantasized about reinventing myself after giving birth. Post-North West Kim Kardashian West was/is my muse. She was everything when she re-emerged with the blonde hair. Don’t remember? See here.

Yet, with all of that fantasizing, I never thought about writing clear goals for my style and beauty game. After thinking carefully, here are my top five focus areas for the year.

Pink Kisses from MAC and Miley Cyrus

If it were up to me, there would never be another MAC Viva Glam spokesperson beside Rihanna. I have a thing for Rih that blew up once it was announced that she was joining this legendary campaign. However, life must go on, right?

It was recently announced that Miley Cyrus is taking over the throne as the newest ambassador for this charitable line of lipsticks. To be honest, I’m not that big on Miley but I appreciate anyone who lends their brand and support to help raise dollars for the MAC AIDS Fund. Since 1994, the company has raised upwards of $300 million dollars to support those living with HIV/AIDS – exclusively through the sale of these lipsticks. It’s incredible.

Now, about the newest product… It is a bright pink but not as much of a strange pink as Nicki Minaj’s Viva Glam lipstick.

I stopped by my local MAC counter to check out the colors on brown skin, and it wasn’t that bad!

However, I already have Girl About Town and think that’s all the bright pink that I need for now. So, I left the tube at the counter, but picked up a tube of Viva Glam III so that my trip was not in vain.

Both the party-perfect lipstick and lip glass are  in stores and online now. To learn more about the amazing work and organizations supported by the MAC AIDS Fund, check out their website. Trust me… You will be impressed.

Is a Birchbox Subscription Worth It?

Subscription services are apparently the cat’s meow. From shoes to clothing and even dinner ingredients, you can pretty much get anything delivered on your doorstep every month. One of the first companies that I heard of doing this was Birchbox, a beauty-focused box. While intrigued, I never pulled the trigger.

Fast forward to last week.

While scrolling through my Instagram feed, I see that (RED) and Birchbox have teamed up for a limited edition December box in recognition of World AIDS Day. I don’t know if it was the packaging or the fact that I would be doing good, but I have been debating whether or not to sign up for Birchbox now. In full disclosure, I am not a product junkie and my monthly spoils might just end up in my linen closet.

If I subscribe by 11/30, then I can still receive this limited edition box and begin my own little beauty journey. That gives me less than two weeks to decide. So, I would love your opinion. Do you have a Birchbox subscription? Do you love it? Do you think that it is worth it?

Help!

TOMS for Target In Stores Now!

Last year, Target brought us the charitable collaboration with FEED Projects. This year, everyone’s favorite retailer has partnered with the original “One-for-One” social enterprise to bring us the TOMS for Target collection. There are more than 50 items in the holiday collection, all under $50. I know that we’re all used to TOMS footwear, but there are also items like candles, blankets, and accessories for all.

The TOMS for Target collection has the potential to provide more than 11 million meals, blankets and shoes to those in need. Every purchase of clothing, accessory and home good purchase will lead to a donation of a blanket through the American Red Cross or Canadian Red Cross, or one week of meals through Feeding America or Food Banks Canada. And for every TOMS for Target pair of shoes sold, a pair will go to a child in need.

Take a look at some of my favorite items from the collection below. You can view all of the items here and head to your nearest Tarjay to get your hands on the goods.

Sneak Peek at NEW Red Pump x Royal Dynamite Tees

Happy New Year!

In 2011, I proudly and confidently claimed that 2013 would be my year and it is DEFINITELY off to the right start. These first two weeks of the year have been BIZ-ZEE. On Tuesday, I joined my Red Pump Co-Founder Luvvie and some of our crew to help shoot photos of our new t-shirt line.

RedPump_RoyalDynamite

The line is in partnership with the fab folks over at Royal Dynamite and will be available starting next week. Did I mention that for every tee purchased the company donates an education package to a child in Sierra Leone? Yes, so you will be doing good TWICE when you scoop yours.

I’ll be sure to post the details on the blog next week! BTDubs, Red Pump kicks off our FIFTH annual Rock the Red Pump social media campaign next week. Whether it’s your first time or your fifth, I hope that you will join us!

Be sure to follow us on Facebook or Twitter for the latest scoop!

We Like to Part-ay-ay-ay

…especially when it’s for a good cause!

Unilever is undertaking a comprehensive initiative to cross off hunger, which among other accomplishments will help donate TWO MILLION MEALS through Feeding America.

Today, the company is co-hosting a Twitter party to raise awareness about hunger in America and to inspire all of us to take small actions that can add up to a big difference in the world. Conversations will be driven by facts about hunger and simple ways that we can all do our part to help out.

The Twitter party kicks off at Noon ET, and you can follow along using the hashtag #BetterTogether. Oh, did I mention that there will be gifts? Use the hashtag in your tweets to show participation and be eligible for prizes given out during the party. Party peeps will have the chance to win one of 15 gift baskets filled with Unilever food and personal care items AND Unilever will donate 500 meals on behalf of each winner to Feeding America.

Good times indeed. Now, in full disclosure, Unilever is a client of my agency. I usually keep the two gigs separate unless a Client is doing something that totally fits into the scheme of my blog. All of that to say, I posted this on my own free will and was not asked to do so by my colleagues, managers, etc.

With that out of the way, I hope to see you at noon! Not following me on Twitter? Let’s fix that. 🙂

Crazy About The Essie x BaubleBar Collabo

This morning, I became a believer in the goodness that is BaubleBar.com. I was familiar with the site but pretty much wrote it off as a Stella & Dot type of site. And, I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with S&D, but I was confused by it. Someone compared S&D to the Avon or Mary Kay of the jewelry world, which still doesn’t really explain anything. But, I digress.

Anyways, I joined BaubleBar this morning and after lots of “oohs” and “aahs,” I stumbled across an image promoting a new collaboration between the site and Essie Nail Polish. Shut up. I love Essie colors. In full disclosure, only recently have I developed an obsession with nail polish, polka dot manis, and ombré glitter nails. Blame Pinterest.

What REALLY sold me on the collaboration was the fact that I could build a set using Butler Please (aka that amazing blue color below) as my polish. This color gives me wings. I’ve been in love with it for months and now I don’t have any excuse not to purchase it.

If blue isn’t really your thing, don’t worry. There are five other shades that you can choose from.

Head on over to BaubleBar.com to put together your custom nail polish + bangle set NOW. Did I mention that it’s only $50 for everything? Mm hmm. Yes. $50. Excited, yet? You should be.

What color polish are you eyeing?
