My Holiday Bucket List

christmas holiday bucket list

I know that we haven’t even celebrated Thanksgiving yet but I’m already thinking about what things I want to get done this holiday season. In the past, I haven’t been as intentionally about planning out my Christmas/New Years activities. However, having kids has helped the magic of the season return to my life. I’m starting to feel super festive again!

As such, I’ve brainstormed more than 20 things that are on my holiday bucket list. Read them below!

  • Bake cookies, specifically oatmeal chocolate chip cookies
  • Have a family movie night
  • Make spiked apple cider
  • Ride the Holiday El train in Chicago
  • Donate coats and cold weather items to local charities
  • Find (and maybe join in) neighborhood carolers
  • Participate in Secret Santa gift program for local families
  • Go to ZooLights at Lincoln Park Zoo
  • Make Chicken and Wild Rice soup
  • Decorate our living room windows with paper snowflakes
  • Attend a Breakfast with Santa event
  • Have date night (or afternoon) at Macy’s Walnut Room
  • Take a winter walk in the forest preserve near us
  • Kiss under the mistletoe (I’ve never done this!)
  • Host a New Orleans-themed brunch for friends and family
  • Complete the Random Acts of Kindness Advent Calendar from Emily Ley
  • Donate toys that the boys aren’t using anymore
  • Drive through neighborhoods with lots of houses decorated for the holidays
  • Read two fiction books
  • Create a holiday playlist
  • Send Christmas cards to family and friends
  • Take pictures in matching family PJs
  • See a Christmas movie at a local theater

As I complete them, I’ll share on Instagram using the hashtag #TFGHolidayList. What are you looking forward to doing this holiday season? Share your holiday bucket list in the comments below!
