Seven Ways to Live a More Altruistic Life

Living & Giving

You can always count on American Express’ OPEN Forum site for great articles about business and leadership which is why I check the site daily. Today, I came across a post that included seven great tips for living a more altruistic life. The best part of the list is that each action is about you changing something within your life… for free! Here are four of my favorite.

  • Boost your capacity for selflessness.
  • Practice how to be genuinely happy for others’ good fortune.
  • Give as many people as you can the gift of your smile.
  • Allow others to help you.

To read the entire list, check out the article here.

I’ve always felt better when giving and focusing on helping others, however, I didn’t know there was scientific proof of the physical benefits of being altruistic. If that isn’t a motivator for doing more good, I don’t know what is. Have you started thinking about how you’ll be more giving in the new year?

If you don’t know where to get started, you can find my best charitable living tips here.
