The Great (Shower) Escape

olay moisture ribbons plus

Friends, these past two weeks have been a whirlwind. Work has been kicking my butt. Caleb’s two-year-old tantrums are wearing me down. The housework is piling up. And, I am in a season of personal transition. Needless to say, your girl has been stressed. Taking care of myself was the absolute last thing on my list. Yes, I know that self-care is important, but I have been doing a horrible job at making it a priority.

Elevating My Style & Beauty Game

2016_Style_Goals

While browsing one of my favorite blogs, The Style and Beauty Doctor, I came across Danielle’s post listing out her 2016 style and beauty resolutions. Reading her list made me think in detail about what I wanted to accomplish this year in those two areas. Looking back at pictures from years ago, I noticed that my interest in my outward appearance took a dip as I took a step back from the social scene. During my pregnancy, I practically fantasized about reinventing myself after giving birth. Post-North West Kim Kardashian West was/is my muse. She was everything when she re-emerged with the blonde hair. Don’t remember? See here.

Yet, with all of that fantasizing, I never thought about writing clear goals for my style and beauty game. After thinking carefully, here are my top five focus areas for the year.

Pink Kisses from MAC and Miley Cyrus

If it were up to me, there would never be another MAC Viva Glam spokesperson beside Rihanna. I have a thing for Rih that blew up once it was announced that she was joining this legendary campaign. However, life must go on, right?

It was recently announced that Miley Cyrus is taking over the throne as the newest ambassador for this charitable line of lipsticks. To be honest, I’m not that big on Miley but I appreciate anyone who lends their brand and support to help raise dollars for the MAC AIDS Fund. Since 1994, the company has raised upwards of $300 million dollars to support those living with HIV/AIDS – exclusively through the sale of these lipsticks. It’s incredible.

Now, about the newest product… It is a bright pink but not as much of a strange pink as Nicki Minaj’s Viva Glam lipstick.

I stopped by my local MAC counter to check out the colors on brown skin, and it wasn’t that bad!

However, I already have Girl About Town and think that’s all the bright pink that I need for now. So, I left the tube at the counter, but picked up a tube of Viva Glam III so that my trip was not in vain.

Both the party-perfect lipstick and lip glass are  in stores and online now. To learn more about the amazing work and organizations supported by the MAC AIDS Fund, check out their website. Trust me… You will be impressed.

Crazy About The Essie x BaubleBar Collabo

This morning, I became a believer in the goodness that is BaubleBar.com. I was familiar with the site but pretty much wrote it off as a Stella & Dot type of site. And, I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with S&D, but I was confused by it. Someone compared S&D to the Avon or Mary Kay of the jewelry world, which still doesn’t really explain anything. But, I digress.

Anyways, I joined BaubleBar this morning and after lots of “oohs” and “aahs,” I stumbled across an image promoting a new collaboration between the site and Essie Nail Polish. Shut up. I love Essie colors. In full disclosure, only recently have I developed an obsession with nail polish, polka dot manis, and ombré glitter nails. Blame Pinterest.

What REALLY sold me on the collaboration was the fact that I could build a set using Butler Please (aka that amazing blue color below) as my polish. This color gives me wings. I’ve been in love with it for months and now I don’t have any excuse not to purchase it.

If blue isn’t really your thing, don’t worry. There are five other shades that you can choose from.

Head on over to BaubleBar.com to put together your custom nail polish + bangle set NOW. Did I mention that it’s only $50 for everything? Mm hmm. Yes. $50. Excited, yet? You should be.

What color polish are you eyeing?
