Building Discipline with My March Goals

KB's Journey

March Powersheets Goals

I don’t know about you but I am DONE with winter. Mentally, physically, and emotionally done. No matter what the weather says, winter is behind me and I am looking forward to spring. I’m ready for the warmer temperatures, the sunshine, and the hopeful spirit of the season. I spent the last weekend of February in Mexico and that trip completed shifted my mindset. Spending four days in paradise with little responsibility and very few cares allowed me to unwind from a very stressful time and start focusing on creating my personal new season.

Chicago Do-Good Cafes

Eats & Treats

As many times as I have tried to make the switch to tea, it’s clear that coffee and I will go together for the foreseeable future. However, our relationship has definitely changed. Back in the day, I didn’t care as much about the kind of coffee that I was drinking because cream and sugar could help mask the taste of even the worst brew. However, during Whole 30, I had to learn to drink my coffee black which forced me to turn my attention towards tastier, higher quality blends.

Beyond flavor, I also spent a lot of time researching brands of coffee that are fair trade or have a charitable component. I’ve actually come up with a pretty good list that I plan to share in a future post. While building that list, I also start tracking local coffee shops that do good in the community.

Reset + My February Goals

KB's Journey

I know that it’s been a long time since I checked in, but is it too late to say, “Happy New Year?” Since this month feels like the true start of my 2018, I’m hoping that you’ll give me a pass. Of course, I thought that January 1st would be this magical date for me, but life had its own set of plans.

Beauty & Style

Friends, these past two weeks have been a whirlwind. Work has been kicking my butt. Caleb’s two-year-old tantrums are wearing me down. The housework is piling up. And, I am in a season of personal transition. Needless to say, your girl has been stressed. Taking care of myself was the absolute last thing on my list. Yes, I know that self-care is important, but I have been doing a horrible job at making it a priority.

5 Questions to Ask Before Donating to Charity

Living & Giving

These days, it has never been easier to financial support a charitable cause or organization. Whether it’s a “text-to-give” campaign or clicking a “Donate Now” button, we can contribute in a variety of ways on our own terms. However, just because it’s easier to make a difference, it’s still important to be diligent about who gets our dollars.

10 Quotes about Gratitude and Giving Thanks

Living & Giving

Sign up for the Intentionally Grateful emails every Wednesday in November.

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is in two days? We were originally planning to host family dinner, which I was both excited and stressed about. However, plans recently changed and now we are heading back to my Granny’s for dinner. While I’m bummed that we won’t be doing the honors, I am low-key happy to not have to stress over coordinating the meal and decor.

christmas holiday bucket list

I know that we haven’t even celebrated Thanksgiving yet but I’m already thinking about what things I want to get done this holiday season. In the past, I haven’t been as intentionally about planning out my Christmas/New Years activities. However, having kids has helped the magic of the season return to my life. I’m starting to feel super festive again!

Tiny Prints x Baby2Baby Holiday Cards are Here!

Living & Giving, Shop for A Cause

‘Tis the season for holiday greetings. I love getting cards in the mail and Christmas is no different. We have not yet decided on our cards, but the Baby2Baby Holiday collection on Tiny Prints is a strong contender. I first became aware of this collaboration when we ordered Caleb’s birth announcements.

The holiday collection consists of seven cards that gives a wide range of styles to fit your desired preference. For me, I think this gold foil-stamped card is my favorite in the bunch.

Baby2Baby provides low-income children ages 0-12 years with diapers, clothing and the basic necessities that every child deserves. The organization collects and distributes items to shelters, Head Start programs, foster care programs and children’s hospitals across the country. This network serves children in more than 20 cities. In Chicago, the participating organization is Share Our Spare, a group that I have highlighted before.

To help Baby2Baby continue to fund their efforts, Tiny Prints is donating 25% of the sales of the holiday collection back to the organization.
