Have you ever had an idea that you just could not shake? Well, that was me and these Valentine’s Day book bundles. Aren’t they cute? Before I get into what’s in them, let me tell you how they came to be.
To spread love on Valentine’s Day, our family decided to donate books to a family shelter. We love reading so we have lots of books at home. But I know that access to age-appropriate books is not equal across households, especially for those in transitional household or who live in book deserts.
Instead of dropping off a stack of books, I wanted to do something more creative and special for the children. Because I was already creating V-Day basket for my boys, that became my inspiration for these book lover bundles.
Thankfully, the shelter was onboard with my idea! They also shared there were four children currently staying there, between the ages of 3 and 10. With that information, I was off to the races.
Putting these bundles was very simple to do. I bought some things from Dollar Tree and Target to go along with the books that I planned to donate.
- Red plastic book bins and baskets
- Coloring books
- Candy
- Valentine’s Day pencils
- Age-appropriate books to read (picture books for the younger children and chapter books for the older ones)
- Crinkle to add some height into the containers
Now that I’ve made these for one occasion, I’m already thinking about other occasions or seasons where this would work. Summer would be a fun one to compile with some coloring books, bubbles and more. Hmm. I think I’m on to something!
Would you create a book lovers bundle?
