July was the month where it really started to feel like summer. We spent more time outside enjoying our garden and doing fun family activities on the weekends. As a working mom, sometimes I feel cheated during the summer. But, I’ve also learned that you have to make the best of the time that you’re given. Here is the rundown of my July favorites.
That I Ate
Chilean sea bass with crab stuffed shrimp at Tavern on Lagrange (Black-owned business!)
Chicago style hot dog at a Chicago White Sox game – Basic but it’s been so long since I had a hot dog. Besides does it get better than beer, hot dogs, and baseball?!
That I Bought
Delicate gold necklace from ABLE, an ethical fashion brand supporting women around the world
Bronzed Rustic Eyeshadow Palette and Blushed Duo Blush from Juvia’s Place Cosmetics (Black-owned!)
“Do Good” tee from Old Navy
That We Did
An ice cream crawl around downtown Naperville
Started our family Summer Service Challenge
Visited Brookfield Zoo on random Thursday morning
Celebrated my Dad’s 65th birthday
That I Read
Inspired by our library’s summer reading challenge, I grabbed a few books this summer. In July, I finished two of them.
Looking ahead to August, it’s all about getting ready for back to school. The boys have always been in daycare so I’ve never had to deal with supply lists, lunch ideas, etc. But, a sister does not have a choice. It will be nice to set some new routines as we continue to bounce along in this growing season.
What are you looking forward to in August?
